4 Stars Great Grill But Be Sure to Register
I opted for the silver instead of the gold and I’m glad I did. My brother-in-law has the gold and, while the coal catcher is nice, it is certainly not worth the additional $70. The only other difference between the two is the hinged grate which can easily be added for around $20.

I highly recommend registering your new grill with Weber by following the instructions included with the grill. After only 3 weeks one of the blades that cover the bottom vents bent out of shape but with one brief call to Weber they sent me out an entire new set for free. This is the only negative I have experienced with this grill.

I’ve cooked chicken breast, legs, thighs as well as “Beer Can Chicken” (I would like to meet the guy that thought this up) on this grill and even with very simple seasonings the flavor from the grill is amazing. I’ve also done pork chops, skewers and vegetables which also came out incredibly good. And if you get yourself some ribeye steaks I guarantee they will be some of the best you ever had.

One final note: You need a chimney starter. With this one time $15 purchase you will never have to deal with lighter fluid or the chemical smell that comes with is again. I also highly recommend using real wood “lump” charcoal or seasoned wood chunks as opposed to the cheaper briquettes. Real wood has no chemical binders and you will taste the difference.

My husband and I bought this as a Christmas gift for my daughter and son-in-law. They have used it once to have friends over. My son-in-law said it was very easy to put together and it worked great for their dinner party. I certainly couldn’t find a better deal anywhere else!

5 Stars Great multi-function cooker
I had a Weber Kettle grill 20 years ago. I had no clue what I was doing, but I still got great results. Open the vents, put on the dome, and a little while later I had great food. But I got tired of waiting for charcoal to heat up, and went on to propane. I never got good results with gas. After wasting way too many years destroying food on gas grills, I came home to charcoal and Weber. This time around I know what I’m doing, and the Weber is giving me Fantastic results. The 22 1/2 kettle is a great all around cooker. It grills, sears, bakes and does a very good job of “low and slow” smoking. If you only have the room or desire for one cooker, get this one without hesitation. It won’t smoke quite as good as a real smoker, but unless you’re a perfectionist, you’ll never know the differance. The 18 inch grill is a great cooker too, but because it’s smaller it’s harder to smoke on it. So if you have the room, get this model. The lid and bowls are built like a tank. I found the unit wiggles around where the legs attach, even though I assembled it correctly. The older ones don’t wiggle. But that’s progress. I don’t think it’s a problem though, just an observation. I was torn between 4-5 stars because of that. They have been building these forever, so assesories and replacement parts can be had easily.

Built solid, mutliple uses, food tastes great, easy to use. Not much else to say.

Nothing beats a Weber Kettle when using the BBQ. It’s esay to use and although this was a gift to my daughter, Our family Kettle lasted 25+ years……for charcoal grilling, nothing beats a WEBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It soaks up whatever you’re applying and it’s hard to clean. I’d rather use a brush or spray bottle.

4 Stars I like this mop
As mops go this is one of the better ones that I have used. Often when I am smoking a brisket I need something that I can just slop on the juices with, and this mop is great. The fibers are quite absorbant so the hold a lot of juices. The handle is long enough that I can reach through the small smoker door and mop my meats on the bottom rack. I love the fact that the head is detachable, this makes cleaning up simple.

You can’t go wrong with this mop.

5 Stars sturdy and easy to clean
The nice part about this mop is that it can reach to the back of the grill and you don’t have to worried about getting burned. There are flare ups on every grill and you don’t need your arm hanging over the top of it.

This is my first Barbecue Mop, so I cannot compare it to other mops, but I have been very happy with this product. The handle is sturdy and long enough to reach the ribs in the back of my smoker. The mop portion unscrews for easy soaking and cleaning.

5 Stars Terrfic Deal
My Weber grill is coming up on 6 years old and the flavorizer bars were disintegrating so I decided to look for replacements. These are exactly the same as the originals – and half the price listed on Weber’s site. I gave the cooking grate and grill a good cleaning and it is like I have a new grill – I am thrilled!! My brother had gotten the stainless steel grates for his Weber so that may be my next purchase in the spring! Can not go wrong with these bars – just be sure you get the correct ones for your model grill – doing my research, I noticed that there were different sizes.

4 Stars Good but stainless is better
I had these flavorizer bars for years on a Weber. Since 2002 I have gone through two sets. Both times they ended up disintegrating. These work well in helping to reduce flare ups, adding the creation of smoke from dripping juices to add more flavor, and help protect your burners from getting clogged up. The only downside is that the porcelain coating comes off after a few years which will lead to massive rust problems and you will need to replace them.

Tired of that I finally upgraded to the stainless bars which perform just as well but they don’t rust. Save yourself a few bucks later by spending a little more if you can afford spending the extra $10-$15 on the stainless bars.

1 Star Probes don’t last
I loved this thing when it worked. Unfortunately, the temperature probes go out frequently and then the units give very strange readings. I’ve used my unit about 10 times and am currently on my third probe.

I use mine for smoking, so theres not much heat and no flare ups. There are a lot of reveiws that complain of the same issue with the probes. If they could produce a reliable probe, this would be very good!!

I didn’t have any problems with anything but the defective probes.

1 Star Not worth one star
I bought my unit after reading all the reviews published here. Since the majority were favorable I was hopeful that the probability was good that I’d be satisfied.

The unit displays an impressive amount of information. At first glance my only disappointment was that there was no temperature readout at the sensor location. Not a deal breaker.

It performed flawlessly on a pork tenderloin; the remote receiver was able to maintain contact through an outside wall two rooms away from the sensor.

The second time I used it the display defaulted to 199*F and sounded a constant alarm. Nothing, not removing/replacing the batteries, not synchronising the units, could restore normal functioning.

Now, I’m left with my wife’s reminding me that I should have bought locally so I could take it back.

4 Stars AW129 BBQ Thermometer
This works very well BUT if it stops working, there are TWO reset buttons that are not explained in the manual. Call Oregon Scientific and their tech service people can explain the steps necessary to reset both the sender and receiver. ALSO, read the manual to be sure you turn them on and off in the correct order.

1 Star unfortunatley it is broke
I purchased this as a gift to my boyfriend. He loved it and it was dead on when we were able to use it. But it worked less than 12 times. After that resetting the units and replacing the batteries couldn’t bring the system back online in a functioning form. It probably needs a new thermometer but after reading the other reviews, I’ll eat the cost and buy a more reliable brand.

3 Stars Not Sure Yet
Purchased on the recommendation of a friend who had good luck with his unit. Mine worked on the first meal but the probe was bad when it came time to use it again. OS agreed to send a replacement but cautioned: A. Don’t touch the probe to the grill or anything really hot. B. Don’t shut the cable in the grill cover because it will melt the wires where they touch the cover. C. Don’t use it in the indoor oven. New probes are $10. They also recommended another model they sell. Assuming the new probe fixes it and I can figure out a way of using it with the grill cover closed, I will be OK. In the end, it looks like this product has a few drawbacks that OS didn’t anticipate so if I were starting over, I would buy the more expensive model that solves the problems better. OS was good to deal with on the phone – which is a plus. My plan right now is to protect the cable and use it as I need to (Closed cover) and be careful not to touch the probe to the grill. That may mean cutting the probe cable and replacing it with Teflon insulated wire. My current (bad) probe is shorted so it may just be a wire problem. I may be able to salvage it as well.

2 Stars Does not do the job it’s supposed to do
I love my Weber grill, but some of the things it advertises that it does well, it doesn’t always worked that way! Take these bars which are also supposed to prevent flareups and help ensure there aren’t any hot and cold spots. I have both issues on my grill! Also, the nice stainless steel appearance goes away after the first use. They immediately turn brown.

5 Stars Weber Genesis flavorizer bars
My original bars rusted out in 5 years. These new stainless steel bars are much better quality. I expect they will outlast the BBQ. I would recommend replacing the old ones if they are rusted out because it causes flare ups and uneven temps.

4 Stars Big upgrade from the porcelain bars
After about two years, my babied Genesis Silver flavorizer bars were totally trashed.

I wasn’t too happy about getting replacements, but fortunately, Amazon had what I wanted for about $15 less than the hardware store.

These bars are way nicer than the porcelain enameled ones. I’ve had them for about six months now, and they show no signs of corrosion. They heat up really nice, and so far, they don’t have the same “hot spots” that the original bars had.

My only gripe is that they’re so expensive for what they are. They aren’t even that well finished (be sure to wear some gloves when you replace your bars, as these have rough / sharp edges, and your old bars may have flakes of metal from the corrosion).

4 Stars replacing bars
I owned my grill for about 5 years before finally breaking down and buying new bars. However there is guy on ebay selling these bars which are of a higher gauge (thicker) steel (16ga) than the weber ones (18ga). I ordered them, which were just about the same price, and noticed they are much heavier and well made. The guy must work with steel and felt, like me, that the ones he got with grill could be better so he made his own and starting selling them. Searh for rcplanebuyer as the sellername.
